Openferry supports the discounts that ferry companies offer to their customers. Below you will find more information on how to benefit from ferry company discounts and how to use Openferry vouchers!

Whats the difference between a refund and an Openferry voucher?

Openferry vouchers are generated on the spot and can be used immediately. You are able to use an Openferry voucher with any ferry company on our platform, and you able to use it multiple times until the full value of the voucher is used up. Bank refunds on the other hand usually can take up to 7 working days to appear in your bank statement depending on your bank.
There is a service fee applied to the refund entitled from your cancellation after the ferry cancellation policy is applied. The service fee is different depending on the refund method you choose. A bank refund incurs a €6.00 (or equivalent value in the currency of your booking) or 6%  fee of the original value of the reservation. A voucher incurs a €3.00 (or equivalent value in the currency of your booking) fee no matter the value of the reservation. This fee covers operational cost for cancelling your reservation with the ferry company, and for the bank refund a higher fee is applied as a transactional fee is incurred to us by the bank for refunding the amount.

Most websites require you to choose the appropriate type in order to benefit from the discount, but with Openferry you choose the age of the passenger first and the correct price is calculated for you automatically.

The Island Resident Id (M.A.N) is a number that employed individuals who live in the Greek islands have. Residents with the Island Resident Id benefit by receiving an offset amount from the Greek government when traveling to to and from the main land.

Can I get a student discount?

In some cases ferry companies do offer student discounts during periods throughout the year. Most of the time, student discounts apply only to students from local universities.

If you have chosen a student discount, make sure to bring your student card with you as you will be asked to show it when boarding. If you fail to provide it, the ferry company may charge you for a full priced ticket.

I forgot to add a discount to my booking, can I add it after?

Unfortunately once a booking is completed, we cannot add a discount code and refund the difference in price. If you are within the cancellation policy for a full refund, you will need to cancel your ticket and then re-book it with the correct discount selected.
